How many people can play?
1 - 4. You can play solo, or bring a few friends. Why a maximum of 4 players per team? The Prizes are designed to be divided between 1 - 4 people. If you really want to have more than 4 people you can, just tell the Sign-Up Crew on the day. Is there are limit of how many teams can play on the day? Yes. There will be a set number of Warant Kits made for the event. Registered teams get priority access to the Warrant Kits. it is very important that you REGISTER YOUR TEAM so that you get a kit reserved for your team. Unregistered teams are still very welcome and can register their team at the Sign-Up, but if we happen to run of Warrant Kits due to a large number of unregistered teams, your team may miss out! We strongly recommend registering as soon as you can! Can we dress as anything we like? Please do! Can children play? Yes, but please be aware there are many traffic hazzards throughout this game, such as crossing busy city intersections. The game also involves alot of running and up to four hours of traversing the city. The clues and design of the game are intended for adults who have maps, resourcefulness and stamina and may be difficult for children to decipher. Children can play if they have their parents or guardians to assist them. What happens if a player on my team is late? There will be a 10 minute window after the start of the race where players can still sign in, pay their $10 and join their team en route. Your Team Captain must have registered your team at the State Library, picked up the game items and been present for the Sargeant's Speech, which will inform players of the game rules and give the starting clue. What happens if my entire team is late? You will have a 10 minutes after the start of the game to get to the State Library, sign up your team, choose your Team Captain, pay your $10 per player, collect the game items and receive the first clue. A few of the Sign-Up crew members will wait for any late-comers. If your team misses out on the Sign-Up you will be unable to play the game. What if one of my team members has to leave during the game? You must call headquarters and notify them of a member departure immediately. Players who are wandering about the city independent of their teams may be considered to be cheating and inadvertantly disqualify their team. No refund will be given to any player who has already started the game if they leave before completing the game. I don't know the city very well. Will I be disadvantaged? If you bring a detailed street map and are willing to ask people for help you will be ok. We strongly recommend bringing an internet-enabled phone if you can, for doing research on the run. Can I use maps and apps on my phone? Yes. Use anything at your disposal to solve clues. Can I take the tram / bus / train / my rolls royce to to get to locations faster? Yes if you think it will help. Can I dress up as The Shadow / Batman / Princess Bubblegum? Yes. Wear whatever you like. What weapons can I carry? Anything that is foam, bendy plastic, or an obvious toy is ok. No metal weapons or sharp edges allowed. Laws about weapons in public have recently gotten tighter: anything that could be mistaken for a weapon is now considered a weapon, including antique reproduction guns. It’s not worth getting arrested over – bring the plastic stuff instead. Can I bribe Non-Player Characters for information? The upstanding members of the ACME Detective Agency are of the highest moral fibre, and are model citizens and pillars of the community in this shady world of gangsters and international master thieves. They lay their lives on the line every day to protect the public from the clutches of V.I.L.E operatives. They are Incorruptible. However, many of them also moonlight as starving students or vagabond artists, and as such they would be very grateful for your donations, in whatever form you choose to the give them. Whether these donations would also loosen their tongues or not remains to be seen… Can I join the game as a Non-Player Character? Yes. Why is there a player fee of $10?
The volunteer team who design, produce and run their game donate not only their time and effort but also their own savings to make this event happen. There are no sponsors involved or any other source of revenue for this event. Ticket money is used to buy all the prizes that will be given out, purchase the various game items and equipment and to cover the administration and production costs. This game is wholely a non-profit venture, powered by the passion of the organisers and their love of creating awesome experiences for everyone to share and enjoy. What happens when the first team wins the game? All other teams can still play and still have a strong chances of catching Carmen themselves. The game will run until 5pm. What happens if my team gets really stuck on a clue? All teams can use their 'HELP-LINE' phone call to Mission Control to get help with a clue. Details of how their works will be given by The Chief at the State Library Marshalling Area during Sign-Up on the day. If we don't finish the game can we still go to the After Party? Absolutely. All players are very welcome to come and share stories of their adventures. Details of the After Party location will be given on the day. |
