Just 20mins from the Eastern Freeway, the charming heritage hall is nestled amidst the stunning greenery of Sherbrooke Forest, surrounded by towering eucalypts and dripping ferntrees.

FIRE SAFETY

Summer in early December tends to be mild and quite pleasant around the mountains, but changing weather patterns mean anything can happen.

In the event of a Code Red the Mythical Markets will be cancelled, for everyone's safety. 

Please check the local Fire Status in your area before travelling through any forest or bushland areas. Watch the Fire Danger signs on the side of the highways. Check the news for any announcements.

No barbecues or flames of any kind are permitted during a Total Fire Ban.
BE PREPARED - STOP BUSHFIRES BEFORE THEY START
It's great to keep a wool fire blanket (picnic blanket) in your car boot during summer, as well as several litres of water. You can get 20L tubs of water from supermarkets, and wool blankets from camping gear stores like Aussie Disposals. 

If you see a fire starting smother it with a blanket, bury it in dirt or sand, or put it out with water. Move any flammable objects away from the fire, like sticks, leaves and branches and clear the area.

​NEVER throw cigarette butts out of cars, or drop them on the side of the road. Only dispose of butts inside your car into a container, and always make sure they are utterly extinguished. Bushfires are started in Australia every year by people carelessly throwing away cigarette butts.

NEVER walk away from a barbecue or campfire while it is lit.

Pouring water on coals is not enough to put out a campfire.  Dig right through all the coals and make sure every last ember is completely out. Residual heat can re-start the fire after you've left, so make certain.

Q: Will there be EFTPOS / Credit Card facilities?

A: Not really. Some traders may have card reader devices, but most stalls will be cash only.
​Be prepared and stop by your local ATM before you head up to the markets.


Q: Is this event public transport accessible?

A: Yes. Buses run along Mt. Dandenong Tourist Rd, one block over from the Ferny Creek Recreation Reserve. Use Journey Planner to find the best transport and times from your house to the event. There are only 1 - 2 buses per hour, so make sure you know the bus timetable in advance, and be prepared for any delays in the schedule.Q: Do I have to wear a costume?

A: Not at all! While we are delighted to encourage creative costuming, you are welcome to wear whatever you like.


Q: Is there on-site parking?

A: Yes. There's a large open plan car park, and further parking on the side streets. Please be careful not to block any roads or driveways if you park on the streets.


Q: Will there be food?

A: Yes. There will be a variety of food vans selling hot and cold food, snacks and coffee.
