Welcome to the Wintervalk! You are invited to Wintervalk - a grand public procession of fantasy folk and mythical creatures in Melbourne, Australia! Dress in your most magnificent winter garb and add to the colour and grandeur of the parade! Elves and Orcs, Maenads and Minotaurs, Warriors and Wyverns, Witches and Wizards, Mages and Dragons, Fairies, Fauns and all manner of fantasy creatures are very welcome! Creative costume creations are extremely encouraged! Our 2014 Wintervalk will be a jubilant procession of magnificently costumed folk giving gifts, playing music, ringing bells and trailing bubbles in the air. This event is open to everyone who loves to dress up and participate in creating beauty, spectacle and fun. People of all ages are invited to attend. The only requirements are that you attend in costume and support the spirit of gift-giving, good will, joyous merriment and rampant creativity.

THE GATHERING
We will meet and organize the procession in the Treasury Gardens park, at the corner of Spring and Flinders Street. This is your chance to meet and mingle with the other fantasy folk before we set off as a group. |
THE PARADE
Our fantasy procession will proceed through the city down a few main streets. Please keep an eye on any little children attending when crossing through traffic and take care of each other as we move as a group. Total walking time will be between 40 - 60 minutes, depending on your walking speed, and will begin at 1pm. |
THE PICNIC
The clear skies and winter sun will make our Wintervalk picnic a delight. The grounds are still wet from recent rain however, so we recommend bringing a plastic garbage bag or a waterproof sheet to sit on. The paraders will be led to the picnic gardens upon returning from the walk. |
