ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Olivia Duval is a multi-discipline artist, director, performer, creator and designer, working across a wide range of arts and entertainment fields for over 25 years. STAGE PERFORMANCE
Olivia began in musical theatre, performing in 9 stage productions. She played principle roles in 'Fiddler on the Roof', 'Oklahoma', 'Pinocchio' and 'The Pirates of Penzance', then went on to train as a contralto opera singer, performing with the Savoy Opera Company. Olivia has also worked backstage on several further stage productions as a stage manager, props and sets maker, dance choreographer and costume-maker. She has also worked as a runway model, most recently in the Melbourne Alternative Designers' (MAD) Fashion Showcase. |
THEATRE DIRECTOR
Olivia's directorial debut with the pantomime 'Snow White Strikes Back' was so joyously received that many of the cast and crew asked if she was 'coming back to direct the next one?' (though a busy schedule writing her Bachelor of Arts honours thesis prevented it). She later produced, designed and directed the storytelling and puppetry show The Red Bird And Death, which was listed in the "Top 10 Pick of the Fringe" for the 2012 Melbourne Fringe Festival. |
SCULPTURE
Olivia has been creating and selling collectible sculptures for over 25 years. Her exquisite fantasy sculptures have won nearly a dozen competition awards and have been sold to private collections around the world. Olivia absolutely loves puppetry and has been commissioned to build various creature effects and special props for film, theatre and burlesque shows. She's also worked for Wicked of Oz studio making horror film effects and prosthetics. |

DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY
Olivia studied 6 years of classical ballet in her youth, and as an adult took classes in belly dance, ballroom and modern social styles, hip hop, broadway jazz, historic court dancing and tango, whilst pursuing a 10 year passion for flamenco. Olivia has designed, choreographed and taught performance dances for theatre, and partnered social dances at balls and events as part of the evening's main activities, as well as led many impromptu group improv dances at events with fellow guests that were so smooth onlookers asked if they were part of the floor show. |
DIGITAL ART & IMAGE EFFECTS
for PHOTOGRAPHY As a digital painter and visual effects artist Olivia has worked on numerous fashion shoots, editorial images, and even specialty themed wedding photos, turning raw portraits shot in dingy backstage rooms and random locations into lavish, finished works of portfolio art. For 4 years she worked as part of the duo Alysander De Djinn Photography for clients such as Lyris Design, Dark Realms and Elvis Schmoulianoff, creating entire marketing packages for productions including The Goblin Ball: Ice Kingdom, 'Jack And Jill: The Poisoners of London', and Horrendous! The Bizarre True Trial Of A Very Dead Pope. |
EVENTS In Melbourne Olivia is most well known as the founder and creative force behind Golden Owl Events. As the Events and Marketing Manager she has invented, designed and run 35 public events over 12 years, including masquerade balls, quests and team game days, markets, parade and picnics, costume parties, easter egg hunts and a cruise. The Bizarre True Trial Of A Very Dead Pope' (pictured). She has also styled dozens of costumes for herself and others, and has done a few head-to-toe body paintings with prosthetics as art pieces and event costuming. |
