Why join the Golden Owl Events Mailing List?
If you are not on Facebook, it is the first, best and sometimes the ONLY way to hear about new Golden Owl Events!

Mailing List recipients get first access to ticket sales and deals, and are the first to receive news and info about competitions and specials via the Golden Owl Events e-Newsletter.

Mailing List recipients are also kept the most informed about ticket availability. This is very important as events with limited tickets can sell out in advance.


Mailing List Privacy and Usage Policy
All information is protected and restricted. The Mailing List is for the sole and specific use of Golden Owl Events for the purposes of event and project promotion, and may not be accessed by anyone who is not directly authorised to do so by the founder Olivia Duval.

No Mailing List information has ever or will ever be shared or sold to any other person, group, or company. We do not believe in spam and we keep  contact with recipients to a minimum.

We respect your privacy as we would wish our own to be respected. Our mailing list is extremely important to us and we guard it with our lives.

How do I stop the Golden Owl Events emails from ending up in my spam box?
Many, if not most, professional and legitimate e-newsletters go straight to spam these days, even when you've been signed up to an e-newsletter for a long time. Spam filters will stop certain words like 'competition, win, party, free tickets' etc, and content with images. This makes Golden Owl Event newsletters count high on spam ranks, because we are all about competitions, winning stuff and giving out free tickets!

1. Check 'Not Spam' every time you receive an email from Golden Owl Events.

If you do this for a few different emails from the same source, sometimes your email provider learns not to put things sent from this address into the spam box anymore, but it depends on the email provider you use

2. Add the sender - [email protected] - to your Address Book or Contacts List

Why does the email source for the e-newsletter change each year?
This is a result of the Golden Owl Events learning how to run multiple events each year and devising better and more efficient ways to manage email systems relating to its many projects.

I got an email asking for my bank details. Is this safe?
No, it is not. NEVER give your personal details to any unknown or suspicious source.

Golden Owl Events will NEVER ask you for your bank details unless a pre-arranged transaction is underway. We may ask for your postal address, name, phone number and email address, but only when you have purchased tickets or are having a prize or other item being sent to you by post. We DO NOT collect banking or financial details of any kind, nor any other type of personal information.

If you receive an email that looks suspicious please forward it to us at [email protected] as evidence of our email having been hijacked, then delete it. Please don't mark it as spam as it will cause all other legitimate correspondance coming from the Golden Owl Events to also be treated as spam in the future.

How many e-newletters will I be sent per year?
Not many. Generally we send about 3 per event unless there are events close together in the calendar, then you will receive less on average.
For example, if there were four events per year, you would probabaly be sent 4 - 8 newsletters per year.


I can't see the graphics in my e-newsletter. How do I fix it?
There may be content or image blocker on. There is often a tab in the top menu of your inbox viewer that says 'Enable Content'. It is possible your virus protection software is blocking content.


I joined the mailing list but I've never received an e-newsletter. What has happened?
There are a few possibilities:
  • The email address you signed up with has expired or is no longer operational (e.g. a university or company-based address)
  • You signed up by hand on a mailing list sheet but you were quite drunk at the time and your email address could not be deciphered by our staff (you may laugh, but this has happened a few times!)
  • Your e-newsletters are falling into your spam box, which is getting cleaned out or periodically deleted before you find them
  • Your email inbox has a capacity limit and was full when the e-newsletter was sent, so it bounced back to us
  • There may have been no e-newsletter sent out between the time you signed up and now.

Am I still on the Mailing List?
The Golden Owl Events mailing list functionality has been upgraded, which means any addresses that were not officially confirmed may have been removed. If you have not received an e-newsletter in 2012 you will need to officially join the mailing list by filling in the Contact Form. Remember to check your Spam Box regularly, and to add [email protected] to your Address / Contact List.

I'm on the mailing list but I don't remember signing up. How did this happen?
A number of ways:
  • You signed up on a sheet at one of the Golden Owl events
  • You met one of the event organisers or promoters and exchanged emails with them
  • You previously emailed the Guild of the Golden Owl (Golden Owl Event's former name) and your email was included on the general contact list
  • You participated in an email-based competition
  • You signed up online as part of a previous Guild of the Golden Owl event

Email [email protected] with 'UNSUBSCRIBE' in the header.

How do I get taken off the mailing list?
Email [email protected] with 'UNSUBSCRIBE' in the header.

Can I rejoin the mailing list if I have unsubscribed?
Yes, absolutely. Just fill in the Contact Form and select 'yes' for "Join the Mailing List", or email [email protected] with 'SUBSCRIBE' in the header.
